Song Garden Terrace

Come to the Song Garden

In the heart of Western Germany, in the land where the Brothers Grimm collected myths and fables from country folk and kin, I live in a small mountain farming village that was established in 1464. We’re surrounded by woods and meadows, creeks and valleys, nature preserves and historic structures, yet closely connected to the cities of Europe when one wanders down the beaten path to the railroad station in the valley below.

The Old School House

There’s an old school house in the village down the road. It’s a place to where you are invited to come and experience the joy of natural solitude, a place where you can walk outside and wander through ancient woods as you search your inner soul for the source of your own creative potential.

“The Future’s So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades”

I love to play with words.  Creativity - the ways into and out of intuitive consciousness - is of deep significance to my art and my craft. A favorite phrase that arose one day from my word play became a hit song in 1986.

“The Future’s So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades” rocketed me and my band Timbuk3 to international fame. We received a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 1987 and invitations to open shows for Sting, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan and many more.  “The Future’s So Bright...” received accolades for ‘Song of the Decade’ in the 1990 Austin Chronicle Music Awards.

Songwriter for Hire

I offer you my services as a ‘Songwriter for Hire’ and will provide assistance on accessing and understanding intuitive processes and creative consciousness.

The old school house can be your home away from home for a week or a month as we explore your musicality and lyrical poetry.

Come and discover new horizons. Return with polished songs and creative tools to further your musical endeavors.

My service as a ‘songwriter for hire’ means the songs we write are yours to keep.

In addition, a lifetime of tips and insights from my experience in the US music industry, as well as German language assistance in what has become the second largest western music market in the world, will be at your disposal.

Become the Artist in Residence

For serious singer-songwriters considering entry into the German Music Market, there is a yellow cottage by the old school house that can be your home for a month at a time.

To assist you with your travel expenses, we’ve devised a way for you to invite your friends and fellow songwriters to join you for a week of creativity and songwriting during your stay.  A Saturday night school house concert is always a possibility.

If this sounds of interest to you, contact me and let’s start a conversation.
